The Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants open the 2010 World Series Wednesday at AT&T Park (7:30 pm ET, FOX). Texas is a -126 moneyline favorite and the over/under is 5.5 in at JustBet. Baseball bettors can also wager on the series winner, with the Rangers a -138 favorite and the Giants a +118 underdog to win the best-of-seven series. Both teams will go with their ace pitchers for tonight's opener, with Texas starting lefty Cliff Lee, who is 15-9 with a 2.93 ERA. Lee frustrated both the New York Yankees in the AL Championship Series and the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS. His last start was an 8-0 win nine days ago in Game 3. The Giants will counter with righthander Tim Lincecum, who is 18-11 with a 3.29 ERA. Lincecum has also been outstanding, although he dropped his last start, losing 4-2 to the Philadelphia Phillies team in Game 5 of the NL Championship Series last Thursday. Both teams were the underdogs in the league championship series. Texas finished off the defending World Series champion Yankees with a 6-1 win Friday, while San Francisco edged the Phillies 3-2 to win the National League Championship Series on Saturday in the City of Brotherly Love. Texas and San Francisco met in June this season, with San Francisco sweeping the three-game set at home. Two of the games were decided by one run, in what was the first meeting between the Rangers and the Giants since 2006. |
