The 18th ranked Tennessee Volunteers get ready to take on South Carolina in what might be a close SEC matchup. Tennessee has a 19-6 record and come off a 69-60 win over Georgia. South Carolina is 14-11 with recent losses to Georgia and Arkansas. Tennessee and South Carolina met up earlier this month. The result was a 79-53 Volunteer victory. Tennessee's Wayne Chism, who averaged just over 14 points per game, stole the spotlight from South Carolina's Devan Downey and scored a career-high 30 points. Currently, South Carolina is listed at 1.5 for this matchup. The total is listed at 144.5.
The difference in this game might simply boil down to where it's being played. In the Gamecocks' 11 losses, 8 of them have been on the road. Four out of the 6 of Tennessee's losses have also been on the road. This home court advantage should give South Carolina some added confidence and allow the Gamecocks to keep this one a little bit closer. Another game-changing consideration will have to do with the target on Chism's back for this one. If leading SEC scorer Downey can step it up, and if the Gamecocks's can limit Chism's scoring abilities, this will be an entirely different game.
