The top two seeds make it to the Super Bowl this year. The Indianapolis Colts are taking on the New Orleans Saints. The top seed from both sides making the big game is a bit of a rarity in most recent years. In fact, it hasn''t happened since 1993! This is the Saints first trip to the big game and the Colts 2nd trip in four years. To open the season, the Colts were 8-1 favs to win the Super Bowl and the Saints were slightly less favored at a rate of 18-1. Both teams did not offer great odds because all experts knew they both would be good this year. You had some of the bad teams getting 500-1 odds to win the Super Bowl in comparison.

The Colts defeated two weak team in the playoffs, the Jets, with a 9-7 regular season record, and the Baltimore Ravens, also with a 9-7 season record. Both teams were beaten soundly by the 14-2 Indianapolis Colts. The Saints had a bit more of a tougher lineup, playing against the 10-6 Arizona Cardinals and the 12-4 Minnesota Vikings. But to many experts, the AFC was a better conference this year by a wide margin.

The point spread opened on the Super Bowl at the Colts -3. That was quickly bet up and is now hovering around Indy -5. The over/under is at 56 points, right around where it opened. This should be one of the better Super Bowls in recent years. Both teams are loaded on both sides of the ball. The Saints and Colts both have lightning fast offenses that can score at will. Both teams have outstanding defenses as well. The Saints defense is predicated on brut strength mixed with speed. The Colts on the other hand have a defense that is just super fast and slightly undersized. But, realistically this game poses many problems for handicappers. The teams match up so well.

My first instinct is the Over 56 point. With both teams having high powered offenses, I have to say a small wager on the over is logical. Secondly, I like the Colts. But, I don''t know if they will win by 6 or more points. So we are suggesting the money line. The money line right now is Indy -210. For the novice bettors out there; this means you would bet $210 to win $100 on a straight up win. You are basically throwing the spread out the window.

We are looking for one helluva game and hope you enjoy it as well as the crazy commercials that will be airing. Remember, bet enough to make it fun and interesting but don''t let the bets ruin your good time and take away from the enjoyment of the spectacle that is the Super Bowl..
