New England at New Orleans
Monday, November 30, 2009 8:30 PM ET on ESPN
Stand by for one of the most important (in terms of significance) Monday Night Football games in recent weeks. The 7-3 Patriots take on the unbeaten 10-0 saints tonight in the Superdome. New England's record is actually better than it looks. Just two weeks ago they nearly took down the Colts. The loss before that was in overtime against the then unbeaten Broncos. Currently, the Saints are only favored by about 2 points. With both teams leading the NFL in scoring, this could be a high-scoring game with the "W" going to the team with the best defensive performance. The total is listed at 56.5.
The high-powered Saints will be facing their toughest challenge tonight. They come off a dominating 38-7 win against Tampa Bay last week. With another win, they could be well on their way to matching a Patriots' 16-0 season record in 2007. Reggie Bush, who sat out last week due to a sore knee, should be ready to play tonight. QB Drew Brees has completed 68 percent of his passes, including 22 touchdowns.
New England is looking for a signature win this season. With a couple of close ones, they're looking forward to making a mid-to-late season statement. The Patriots most recently beat the Jets, 31-14. The difference-maker in this game might come down to the following: The Patriots are ranked 2 in the NFL for points allowed, and 6th for yards allowed. New Orleans is ranked 15 in both of those categories.

Pick: The defensive edge allows the Patriots to cover and win in what will be an upset in front of a large Saints crowd. Take New England +1.5. The total will likely go under 56.5, but it might be better to stay away from the over/under in a game like this.
