Saturday's outcomes get us closer to figuring out what the big game on February 5th might look like. Tom made it look easy as he ended Tim’s magic in a 45-10 romp. The 49ers put an end to The Saints’ dreams of winning the Super Bowl for the 2nd time in 3 seasons in a back and forth battle.

This afternoon, the underdog Giants (9-7) take on the Packers (15-1) in the divisional round of the 2012 playoffs where they play best: at home. The Packers are 8-0 at home and have beaten their opponents by an average of almost 19 points per victory. The Packers played at NY on December 4th and took home a narrow 38-35 win. In this matchup, the linemakers have Green Bay favored by 9 points with the total listed at 53.5. Green Bay is 11-5 and the NY Giants are 8-7 against the spread.

The Patriots will host the AFC Championship against either the Texans or the Ravens. With a win, the Packers will host San Francisco. The 49ers will host the Giants, however, if they are able to pull off the unlikely upset.

Aaron Rodgers should have no problem performing well on the big-stage tonight. Their offense is one of the best in the league with an average of 35 points per game. The Packers are ranked 27th in overall rushing, but don’t even need to think about ground ball with a passing attack as prolific as it is. They are ranked 3rd in yards per game and passing yards per game. Top receiver Jordy Nelson (68 catches and 1,263 yards) will see the ball more than a few times and Greg Jennings is back from his knee injury. The two of them, along with Randall Cobb, Donald Driver James Jones, and Jermichael Finley should prove to be an overmatch for the Giants’ backfield.

Compared to the Packers, Eli and the NY Giants averaged 25 points per game and 5th overall in passing yards. His 2 reliable receivers Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz (with 1536 yards) both present big-play threats. To have a chance in this game, they’ll need to establish a running game to gain control of the clock and miss no opportunities to put points on the board. Scoring potential is there against a Green Bay defense that has proven to have some holes in it.
